Making Wishes Come True...

At the end of January, BeautyDel collaborated with the Schulich Charity Association (SCA), a philanthropic club at the Schulich School of Business, for one of their biggest events of the year known as the Schulich Charity Fashion Show (SCFS). Each contributing member to SCFS donated their time and effort towards making the event as beautiful as possible, and I can personally vouch for their success. The SCFS involves a wonderfully diverse group of individuals and businesses coming together to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

If you haven’t yet come across the wonder that is the Make-A-Wish Foundation, it is a non-profit organization with the mission of creating “life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.” Make-A-Wish understands how one’s childhood can be taken away when battling a critical illness, therefore the organization strives to restore that lost sense of childhood and give children the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wishes. This year, SCA had the honour of granting a wish for Sydney – 5 years old and fighting endocrine disorder – whose wish was to “meet my favourite movie characters!” (and she’s the cutest little muffin with the sweetest little smile we’ve ever seen!!!)

"The most fantastic magical things can happen, and it all starts with a wish"

Every year SCA brings together local designers and boutiques from around the GTA with a group of models. Each of the individuals and businesses volunteer their time and resources to help put on this magical and heartwarming event. In the days leading up to the Fashion Show, all the love and sweat that went into the hours and hours of preparation was all worth it because the event turned out absolutely perfect (shout out to Stephanie and Natalie, the two boss babes who organized SCFS 2020 and totally rocked it!). This year the event attracted an audience of over 500 people.

Veronica and I each participated in different ways during this year’s Fashion Show, as I was a model for a local Toronto boutique called Poor Little Rich Girl, while V was out amongst the crowd at the BeautyDel Booth offering makeup touch-ups to all the glamorous attendees. Walking down the runway never fails to give me a rush of adrenaline, and knowing that my contribution was going towards such a wonderful charity was truly one of the most amazing feelings and a moment for which I am truly thankful.

However, experiencing the night from a slightly different perspective, Veronica was at the BeautyDel Booth throughout the evening. She was working alongside one of BeautyDel’s fabulous makeup artists,Tess, adding a little extra glam to the Fashion Show guests and doing what she does best by talking to and connecting with many new people. The BeautyDel Booth was a huge success; adding a little extra sparkle here and there, acting as a fun intermission activity, and providing the best photo lighting in the room (modestly, of course). Whether or not you believe in magic, the night was truly enchanting, and it has sure set our sights high on participating in many more events like it in the future.
